Sometimes, Edges of the belt get damaged due to swaying of conveyor or other reasons. This can cause further damage to the steel cords and can be arrested by repairing the edges. In such cases total savings to the tune of approx. 60% to 65% can be achieved by using reconditioned / repaired belts instead of new belts on account of lower capital investment, lower inventory costs & lower interest costs.
Thus it will be seen from all angles that by virtue of high repair reliability, it is much more beneficial to get belt reconditioned rather than using new belts, provided the belt casing has enough residual strength.
